G. Trinh, astronaut and OBPR Director of Physical Sciences Research Division goes back to space at the "Picture Yourself in Space" Photobooth

Microgravity Science Division personnel co-ordinating with headquarters and other NASA centers staffed an extensive OBPR exhibit at the World Space Congress 2002 in Houston, TX, October 14-19, 2002. The OBPR exhibit emphasized the Code U Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Commercial Research Programs and was centered around the full-size ISS U. S. Laboratory, Destiny, mockup. The exhibit was staffed by personnel from Headquarters, Johnson, Marshall, Glenn and Ames. This exhibit was part of the "NASA Village" that included exhibits from all of the NASA Enterprises and Centers.

The U. S. Destiny Lab mockup, included the CIR, FIR, MSRR, MSG, EXPRESS, HRF, and HHR racks. “Destiny” was surrounded by various project specific exhibits that included many of the projects scheduled to run in the ISS environment. Visitors jammed into the mockup to see what a laboratory in space really looks like. The U. S. Lab and the project exhibits were complemented by the "Picture Yourself in Space" Photobooth. Over 3,500 people had their pictures taken and made into a souvenir image. Conference attendees and school groups alike enjoyed seeing themselves in the EVA suit, poised to do repair work on space hardware while in a microgravity environment.
